Download YouTube videos as MP4
Find a YouTube video and save an available MP4 containing both picture and sound. Use a direct video link to select a specific recording, or search YouTube by title. Preparation starts when you choose MP4 Download on a result.
How to download a YouTube video
- Paste an individual YouTube video URL or enter a search phrase, then press Search.
- Review the matching video. Play opens its YouTube preview so you can check that it is the recording you want.
- Choose MP4 Download. Once the completed file is ready, press Download MP4 and check your browser’s download list.
Video size and format limits
MP4 files must include both video and audio and fit within the 25 MiB limit. A long or high-resolution source may exceed that limit. Choosing MP3 is an alternative when you only need the audio and the source is available.
There is no resolution selector, batch playlist mode or support for private videos. An unavailable or oversized file produces an error; it is not presented as a completed download.
Saving MP4 on a phone or computer
Use your browser’s save action after preparation. The browser controls the download location and may ask where to store the file. On a phone, check the browser download list or the Files app rather than expecting the video to appear in Photos automatically.
The website works in a browser without installing an application. Keep the page available while a download is being prepared. Only save videos that you own or have permission to download.
Questions about this tool
Does the MP4 include sound?
A completed MP4 must contain both an audio stream and a video stream. An audio-only file is not offered as a finished MP4.
Why does a video exceed the limit?
The available source may be larger than 25 MiB. There is no size or resolution selector. Try another permitted recording or choose MP3 if you only need its audio.
Can I download a SoundCloud track as MP4?
No. SoundCloud tracks support MP3 audio only. Use the SoundCloud downloader for those recordings.
